Western Slope residents pay the highest premiums in the state and that is unfair. Our state must continue to act to help the residents of this district and the entire state have access to affordable health care. We have made significant progress over the last few years to lower health insurance costs, reduce the price of prescription drugs, and help local health care co-ops to get up and running. However, I will continue to make affordable healthcare my priority until every Coloradan and every small business has access to high-quality, affordable health care coverage.
Further, behavioral and mental health care is of utmost importance to our region and our state. I will work to increase access to mental health care in our rural communities, incentivize more providers to come here, prioritize youth mental health resources, and make needed reforms so that our mental health funds are spent properly and efficiently.
